German PAHs Specifications Under GS-Mark

The German Product Safety Commission (AfPS) issued the latest edition of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) under the voluntary GS-Mark (AfPS GS 2019:01 PAK) and became effective July 1, 2020. This latest edition clarified the scope of materials falling under Category 1 as below, and there were a total of 15 PAHs Limits of German GS-Mark.

a. Materials intended to be placed in the mouth, or
b. Materials coming into long-term contact with the skin (more than 30 seconds) during intended use:
  • In toys falling under the scope of Directive 2009/48/EC, or
  • For use by children up to three years of age.

To ensure the finished paper products for age up to three years old and exported to Germany are complying with the aforementioned requirements, there is a standard handling workflow at Leo of recognizing, reviewing and monitoring all the related orders that are in place. Please be reminded to inform Leo of the target age group, destination country, and specific testing requirements, if any, as soon as you place your orders. Feel free to contact our sales staff should you have any questions regarding this.
