Building on the success of the first ENGAGE “Journey of Opportunity” Action Day in 2008, Community Business organized a second Action Day in Hong Kong on Friday April 3, 2009. Volunteer teams from different companies came together, contributing their time and skills, to demonstrate to young people the opportunities available for further education and employment in the local Tin Shui Wai area.
Action Day included a one-day campus visit to a tertiary education institution followed by a visit to a business operation. Leo was very proud to take part in this program and not only did several of our volunteers join in the action, we also played a significant role in the day’s activities as our Head Office was chosen as the venue for the corporate visit.
Approximately 30 young people participated in this program. Designed to provide improved understanding of how a company works, the corporate visit provided an insight into our workplace environment and a window into the manufacturing industry.
The entire event was very well received and satisfying for all, and an excellent reminder of how important it is to continue to support and engage in community projects which also have the added benefit of reinforcing a CSR mindset among all Leonians.
