Families & Leo – the Living English Program

Leo sponsored and co-organized a meaningful English learning program initiated by the Salvation Army, named "Leo Living English", which commenced in November 2008 and ran until December 2009.

In 2007, in partnership with the Salvation Army, we committed to a three-year social plan to co-organize various activities in the local community for the needy. These activities have ranged from education and children's development programs, to environmental protection and other CSR-related projects. The "Leo Living English" program was conceived to improve the standard of English among the less advantaged children in Hong Kong, enhancing their learning ability and confidence and so doing, better prepare them for the future and for communicating beyond their communities. This program also provided guidance to parents about how they could participate and assist their children in learning the language. The hope was to encourage a more harmonious relationship at home and to strengthen the Parent-Child bond through the process of learning.

Leo was involved in this project in a number of ways. In addition to our financial sponsorship, we also helped design and print the English-language learning materials required, and most importantly, our Leoneans were encouraged to participate by volunteering to organize the program's activities and events.
